notes
Fusebox Funk is, in a word, captivating. A quickly rising group, they are as passionate as they are original. With their outlandish rhythm section, socially conscious lyrics and a furiously rich horn section, your entertainment is guaranteed. Stemming from, literally, everywhere musically, the audience finds eclectic and, at times, eccentric layers blurred together seamlessly. It is an approach that is aggressive, yet enlightened. Their grasp of style and sound is familiar and original at the same time. The players seem to reinvent the genres as they go along, and make a point to never display themselves as typical or hackneyed.
Fusebox Funk formed in 2001 as a casual endeavor, but quickly took the foreground in all the member’s lives. Having decided early on that, (considering the state of the industry,) it would be wise to remain independent as long as possible, they completely put off the notion of ‘getting signed’ and just focused on writing and performing. For the first 3 years they explored different avenues within their own sound through their common love of Acid Jazz, Funk and Soul.
Then, in 2004, the group recorded a collection that exemplified the first chapter of the band with their debut release, “The Solution”. Since then they have been touring as relentlessly as possible and spreading their sound around the Southeast. In February 2006 they began the recording of their sophomore album, “The Next Obsession” which found the group in a totally fresh place musically and lyrically. While dipping deep into their collective musical past and coming up with Blues and Jazz, they continued to push the limits of Hip Hop, Rock and Funk. Now, with the release of a brand new album and a fresh convergence of fan support, Fusebox Funk is pleased to announce its appearance with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra!
Future plans for the group include a tour to promote the new album and perhaps finally speaking with a label of some fashion. The band has recently been enjoying radio play in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, New Mexico, and most recently California. As their sound spreads so does their following, catch the buzz of Fusebox Funk!
